w. nostheide verlag publishes several trade and consumer magazines mainly on toy and family topics with circulations between 2,000 and 80,000 copies. The company, founded in 1979, is a medium-sized family business led by the 2nd and 3rd generation. Our headquarters is located in Memmelsdorf at the gates of World Cultural Heritage city Bamberg in Upper Franconia:

Our most important object is spielbox®, the world’s leading board and card game magazine. It has been published since 1981, since 1992 in our own portfolio. In 2010 an English-language edition (American English) started to cater to the international market (www.spielbox.de). The game segment also contains various special editions of spielbox® as well as spielböxchen® (www.spielböxchen.de) where we recommend children’s games.
This section is completed by SPIEL DOCH!, a magazine directed at casual and future board game players, launched in 2015 (www.spiel-doch.de).
Since March 2018, w. nostheide verlag has been organising the annual „SPIEL DOCH! in Dortmund“ (formerly Duisburg) fair for expert players, people interested in games, school classes and families. From June 2023 there will also be a „SPIEL DOCH! at Lake Constance“ in Friedrichshafen (www.spieldoch-messe.com).
We have been publishing the magazine SPIELMITTEL since 1981 and started distributing it in pediatricians’ waiting rooms in 1988. It informs parents on the latest toy and board game novelties (www.spielmittel.info).
The same year, 1981, marked the introduction of BRANCHENBRIEF INTERNATIONAL, our bi-weekly newsletter keeping all German-speaking toy professionals up to date on news and background reports (www.toyscene.de).
Furthermore we publish regional branch directories for families and senior citizens.
Last but not least we also work as consultants and service providers in the following areas, grounded on our longstanding experience in the toy branch: mediation of company acquisitions and sales, order of succession, mediation of executive management, creation of concepts and market analyses.
