the center of the board.
Where exactly we operate in this triptych is determined by character cards that we selectively play in one of the areas. Two to four explorers aged twelve and up- wards spend about an hour and a half trying to keep on top of things in Delta. The game is supposed to be available in October, so make sure you order that new table soon. (sd/cs)
OThe Game Builders (4 H101) ne year after its debut with the family-friendly Applejack by Uwe
Rosenberg, the start-up publisher from Horstmar shifts up two gears all at once: Planta Nubo is an expert game,
designed by Mi- chael “Mike” Keller and Andreas “ode.” Odendahl—who have already collaborated on La Granja—and
Rosenberg again.
The thematic universe is called “solar punk”. The underlying theme is once again a dystopia, with earth ruined and mankind sitting where it actually came from, according to the experts: on trees. On giant “Arbors” the survivors grow energy-rich flowers, which they transport in cargo containers by means of bee-like airships and convert them into green energy. The idea is to
harvest oxygen.
On the treetop of your personal play-
er tableau, you lay out tiles and create, in terms of the game, flowerbeds. These flowers provide energy, which makes a die move about on your own treetop. In addition, cards can be placed around the tree to build up your own action and scor-
ing engine. You also score points if you later place forest tiles without gaps onto the flowerbeds as a second layer.
To ensure that the action selection is not too easy, everyone at the table has tool markers valued one to four. If there are already tools laying at an action, no further tools of the same value may be added. However, since only three tools are placed per round, the fourth one, which is not used, defines which action card you will carry out at the end of the round.
Up to four experienced players can take part and, provided they are familiar with the rules and have mastered Planta Nubo, they will spend about 30 minutes each tackling the game. This should be possible in October.
An accompanying book of the same ti- tle is to be published by Calderan-Verlag in early October, “a solar punk anthology in the world of ‘Overgrown’”. Renowned (fantasy) writers such as Christian Hum- berg, Jacqueline Mayerhofer, Bernd Per-
 NOVELTIES BY AND
While some burn their tongues on hot apple pies, others munch on molten rocks with relish: In Sophia Wagner’s LECKER LAVA by Drei Magier, a volcano erupts, which is a cause for celebration for the local dragon community—the
fire-breathers like nothing better than freshly bubbling lava. Hungry little dragons from the age of five wait on the edge of the board for their favorite food to flow directly into their mouths. However, not everyone gets the best seat, because the magma flows at different speeds under the surface. Who’ll fly the furthest with delicious lava in their belly?
