  Current. Fall Preview 2022
Games”, on Saturday, October 8, at 5:30 p.m. (Room M+N in the basement of the CC South, accessible via the foyer of the South Entrance).
The announcement states: “From min-
ing, mangroves and lagoons to savan-
nah agriculture and plantation farming
and to ecotourism: Ghana offers several
themes for board games. Rosenberg tries
to work out how to design games from
this variety. In order not to overload one
game, he sees about five possible differ-
ent ones to be set in Ghana. Since he
has already worked out the themes in a
book, he will be using his research to de-
velop these games in the near future.” At
the very least, Uwe Rosenberg could see
himself designing at least a Ghana trilo-
gy for Lookout. Atiwa is due for release

s merchants of the floating market of the Chao Phraya River, Phraya players seek to trade goods with a prof- it, for example to supply restaurants and others. In your turn, you play one of your hand cards and follow its instructions. It could tell you to move the merchant pawn and change the prices of the two goods that its new location specifies. Or to move the royal barge, which rains flowers on the owners of neighboring market stalls.
After executing the card action, you navigate your boat along the river arms, and once you reach your destination, ful- fil actions on the two spaces there. After- wards, you can buy or sell goods, set up another market stall, obtain a card from the display, make good or flower offerings at the Buddha temple, or buy another

he card game Triggs has nothing to do with tricks at all, but with crossing off, and in Karin Hetling’s work, unlike in so many flip-and-write games, this is done individually. In your turn, you ei- ther draw two number cards from the three decks in the center (two of which are face-up), discard the same number of cards, or score. For that you announce a number, which you can then fulfil with single cards or pairs, even more than once. A pair of cards is added up. Cross off the corresponding number of boxes of that number on your sheet. If you mark the last free space of a number in a row, you earn a bonus cross in any other box. And if you have also managed to discard all your cards at the same time, you re- draw five new ones. The goal here is to be the first to complete their sheet.
You either try to collect as many cards of the same number or matching sum- mands as possible, but here the hand card limit will slow you down. Or you use the free redraw bonus, which saves you
in October. (sd/cs) ai16328265509_PremiumZugang_111-333x48-3xmm_EN_20210928.pdf 1 28.09.2021 12:55:51
storage space in your boat. If you move ad- jacent to the king’s barge, you can pay tribute to him by of- fering coins, flowers or goods, and in return receive a favor mark- er, which you place for goods later, or it may even grant you a discount. In the final scoring, you get points for fulfilled restaurant orders, but above all, for tribute payments and temple deliveries.
With the tight start- up budget, establish- ing your company requires some effort, but it can be gradu- ally achieved—with varying strategies—af- ter overcoming a num-
ber of hurdles, especially a notorious cash flow shortage. Competing as well as com- mon market interests ensure a high degree of interaction. Phraya is a multi-layered trading game for real connoisseurs and is announced for the fourth quarter. (cc/cs)
In Atiwa by Uwe Rosenberg, players learn how relevant flying foxes are in Ghanaian agriculture.
