DTeep Print Games (3 L100) his year, one of this publisher’s nov- elties once again deals with a nature theme: In Moorland, designer Steffen Bogen lets us participate in the renatur- ation of—surprise!—a moor. Players want to craft waterways so that plants and an- imals can colonize them.
All participants start off with an iden- tical moor display of 16 spaces, four of which are still moorish with waterways. On the other twelve soil spaces, we are to plant new plants each turn before we flood the areas. To do this, we first place plant markers on the soil spaces. The type of plant is determined by a card drawn at the beginning of a turn. We also choose a moor card that allows us to cover a soil
space immediately, but most of the time we will keep it in reserve. No later than the third moor card, we have to lay out at least one: Now it becomes evident wheth- er the deposited plant markers find their space to grow, or dry up or are washed away, and whether animals can colonize there.
The first player to cover a soil card gains a water marker, which can either score a VP or move a plant anywhere in the moor. After that, the ingenious part begins: On the card waterways we drift the plants onward—for example, onto ad- jacent soil cards. So, when laying out the plant markers, you should already have in
