Rolling Realms was developed by de- signer Jamey Stegmaier during his Co- rona-induced isolation, so he could play online with people. This half-hour roll & write game is now also available on the German market as a physical board game. In three rounds, two six-sided dice are rolled nine times each and the results recorded on score cards with an erasable pen. They represent games from the Stonemaier program, but the cards‘ functions have little to do with the orig- inal games. For example, in Wingspan, players are supposed to achieve a specific wingspan value by writing down the dice numbers.
Each player enters the results of the two dice on their own cards, aiming to score as many points as possible in the interme- diate scoring after nine rolls. Before each round, three worlds/games for entering the dice rolls are drawn from a total of eleven. These, in turn, unlock extras like pumpkins, hearts or coins, which are col-
lected on a separate card and activated if need- ed, to change dice results or create new

Mombasa, and even more so Great Western Trail, were the two games that established Alexander Pfister‘s almost legendary fame in the gaming scene. There is now a second edition of the lat- ter, after a full graphical design overhaul and with even more new features. Above all, it will be published as a trilogy. In 2021 eggertspiele, now a label of Plan B Games, will publish the original game, followed by Argentina next year, and fi- nally New Zealand in 2023.
Sophie Gravel and her team paid par- ticular attention to the redesign in terms of making the game more attractive for international markets. Three cloth bags now enable a faster setup, and dou- ble-layered player boards prevent markers from sliding about. Another eye-catcher: the wooden cowboy meeples with their colored, removable hats.
The game itself has only subtly changed. For example, the solo mode de- veloped by Steve Schlepphorst, assisted by Wil Gerken and David Lavoie, which has two difficulty levels, is included now.
