Designer Luc Rémond was unable to attend the award ceremony in Berlin in person because he
was on vacation, but he had recorded a video message in advance—in German. The Frenchman is an engineer and has worked in the pharmaceutical and textile industries. In the end, the father of six de- cided to stay at home with his children before becoming a game designer. He answered spielbox’s questions by e-mail.

As Luc Rémond was on vacation with his family, he was unable to attend the Spiel des Jahres award ceremony in Berlin in person. However, he sent a video message in German. The publishing teams from the original Canadian publisher Scorpion Masqué and from Kosmos, responsible
for the German localization, celebrated winning the award on their behalf—all wearing pilot hats in proper style (right). Incidentally, this was the fifth time that the Stuttgart-based publisher had won the main prize.
