Meeple Land is what is called a
”gateway game,“ i.e. a game that is suitable to inspire the proverbial family of players to get involved in
this best of all hobbies. It shows what is possible in modern games, of- fers solid replay value, is lovingly designed and has an ideal game length. In short: it‘s fun for meeples,

the economic aspect: meeples supply us with points and money. Not only do you have to plan for end-game scoring, but you also have to keep the cash flowing.
Buy and lay tiles, place meeples, col- lect money. Experienced gamers will pick this one up very quickly, so quickly that it‘ll feel routine soon, and when it‘s done someone will say ”that‘s a decent filler.“ Ok, fine, a rating of 6 seems appro- priate.
That is, until you put the game on the table in front of the actual target group. Among casual players, Meeple Land works much better. The theme fits the mechan-

Surprisingly challenging game idea, where you can control far more than you realize during the first few plays. Still, a lot depends on luck, which won‘t work well for perfectionists.
